Feedback on Our Wiggle Warrior® Programming

From Carolyn McBride

(She has been running our campaign in her school since 2018)

This program has been instrumental in fostering a school culture of gratitude among students, staff, and families. Not only has this  program made such a positive impact in our school, it has been such a highlight for me to see our students take on the role of ambassadors where they helped to organize the Look for the Good assembly, presented the emotional literacy videos, and taught students how to turn their 'stress into strength'.

With the inclusion of the Wiggle Warrior Week and the Emotional Literacy videos, students have been better able to express their emotions in healthy ways and navigate life's ups and downs with resilience and self-awareness. The students, staff, and families saw the benefit of this program which encouraged the student leaders to identify additional ways to expand the program.

Two ideas that were so powerful at our assembly was the inclusion of Marcel's 'I'm Fine' Box where we used a large box to show how hiding our feelings can make those feelings get 'bigger and louder and more overwhelming'. We also created a song/dance about gratitude where students had a 'face off' and named all the things that they were grateful for during the song.

Since its implementation, the Look for the Good Program has helped staff, students, and families recognize the importance of gratitude in our daily lives. We have witnessed a significant shift in the overall atmosphere within our school by encouraging students to actively seek out the good in themselves and others. All of the components of the Look for the Good Program have helped to empower our students to overcome obstacles and thrive in both their academic and personal lives.
